Hello, I am Amruta, an artist who originally from Pune, India. In 2018, I moved to Kjipuktuk/Halifax. As a multifaceted individual I find my joy and solace in creativity. I enjoy drawing intricate patterns inspired by the natural world, including plants and insects, as well as a wide range of imaginary characters often find their way into my work. I believe drawing these patterns helps calm my mind and gently brings me back to the present moment. Lately, I’ve been delighting in painting colourful watercolor birds. They bring a sense of bubbly joy and lightness to my life—and you’ll find them here on the website!

In addition to my artistic pursuits, I have a keen interest in data in all its forms. I enjoy working with data, finding patterns, and building systems and routines that bring a sense of order and clarity. This combination of structure and creativity fuels my curiosity and love for interdisciplinary exploration. I’m fascinated by how seemingly different worlds can overlap and inform one another.

Beyond my individual quest as an artist, I am deeply interested in the local art community in Kjipuktuk/ Halifax. I actively seeks out opportunities to connect with other artists and participate in community events. I feel the communal effect of art on society has profound and transformative potential. I see art as a means of fostering empathy, promoting understanding, and encouraging dialogue, all of which are critical to building stronger and more connected communities.

For the past three years, I have been coordinating the NOISEmakers program for the Nocturne team, bringing my unique blend of creativity and organization to support emerging artists and community collaboration.
